8/1/23 Letter from Constituency to City Council Finance & Housing Committee - First Avenue Streetcar

Dear City Council member,

Last night in a special General Assembly meeting, the Pike Place Market Constituency passed a motion to send the following message to you and other council members ahead of the Finance and Housing Committee public hearing on August 2:

Due to the significant disruption to Market businesses from the First Avenue Streetcar line's construction and operation, additional funding requested for the streetcar project should not be granted and should be used for Seattle's Vision Zero project instead, as proposed by Council members Pedersen and Herbold.

We also encourage SDOT to work with King County transit to implement as soon as possible some form of shuttle along 1st Ave.

Submitted on behalf of the Pike Place Market Constituency
